Description
A visit to the 17th-century Taman Ayun Temple with its three ascending levels of spacious courtyards and impressive surrounding moat is a must. Continue through the spectacular countryside to the Mountain Resort of Bedugul and Lake Beratan, where the delightful Ulun Danu Temple is located. The temple is set on a small promontory on the shores of Lake Beratan, home to the Goddess of Waters, Danu, who is believed to control the island’s irrigation system. A visit will also be made to Alas Kedaton, the holy Monkey Forest, and finally drive south to the famous holy temple of Tanah Lot, built on a barren rocky mountain island etched against the sky.
