Our first stop today will be at Kerta Gosa, the former Courts of Justice in Klungkung which date back to the 18th century. Interesting illustrations can be seen on the ceilings, which portray the visions of heaven and hell. Then going to the royal bathing pools of Tirtagangga where the waters are believed to be pure and sacred. Lunch will be at tirtagangga. We continue along the east coast to the fishing village of Kusamba. Here the beaches are from the black lava sand sparkling like sapphires in the mid-day sun. Here the locals have their home industry of salt panning and of course fishing. Along the beach the colorful fishing boats are standing at the ready for their daily fishing trip. We visit the bat caves of Goa Lawah where we see the walls covered with thousands of bats. The cave is considered to be holy and is protected with a shrine and temple at the entrance. Traditions have not changed over the centuries in the Bali “Aga” village of Tenganan. Here the villagers weave the famous gringsing sarongs, which are said to have special powers for the wearer.
